Frequently asked questions

What criteria are important when choosing the right coffee machine?

It is important to consider the target audience you want to address with your coffee concept and to be able to estimate the approximate number of cups required per day. It also depends on whether the machine is to serve milk-based drinks or just coffee. The location and therefore the space available also play a role. Our sales consultants are coffee professionals and will help you choose the right machine.

What machines does Blasercafé offer?

Whether you prefer portafilter or fully automatic machines, Blasercafé is an independent partner of almost all coffee machine manufacturers. As a future Blasercafé customer, you will benefit from our special conditions and our coffee machine expertise.

How do I determine the required number of cups per day?

Generally speaking, consumption tends to be overestimated. You need around 8–10 grams of coffee for one cup of coffee. This allows you to calculate the approximate requirement in kilograms. Based on this, you can estimate the approximate number of cups. We normally use the following gradations:

•    25 to 40 cups/day
•    41 to 60 cups/day
•    > 60 cups/day

In the hospitality industry, it helps to rely on your own experience or that of others in the industry. Our sales consultants will be happy to help you with the calculation.

What coffee drinks can be prepared?

That depends on the type of coffee machine you choose. As standard, every machine can prepare an espresso, lungo or café crème. Machines with an integrated milk tank can prepare milk-based drinks such as cappuccino or latte macchiato ready to drink. With portafilter machines, staff training is essential. Blasercafé offers the appropriate training for this.

How does coffee machine financing work with Blasercafé as a partner?

That depends on which financing model you choose. Our all-inclusive solution is ideal for office coffee. We provide you with a Franke or Schaerer coffee machine at no investment cost. You are billed monthly based on the price per cup. The price per cup includes: coffee machine with service subscription, cleaning supplies, coffee beans, coffee cups, delivery costs (excluding milk and sugar). This model is particularly suitable for cup purchases of 25 cups/day or more.

For hospitality businesses, we offer financing models tailored to the individual business.

What should you consider when buying a portafilter machine?

If you decide to purchase a portafilter machine, we will provide you with two grind-on-demand coffee grinders on permanent loan free of charge. This is subject to a minimum purchase of 100 kg per grinder per year. In addition, we will give you a half-day barista course for your crew.

How much does the machine and coffee cost, and how is it billed?

We would be happy to provide you with a customised quote. We can already guarantee you an attractive price. For hospitality businesses, we offer financing models tailored to the individual business. Our all-inclusive solution is ideal for offices. We provide you with the coffee machine at no investment cost and charge you monthly based on the price per cup. Once a certain number of cups per day are consumed, the price per cup falls below 50 pence, which is even cheaper than commercial capsule solutions, and that includes the coffee machine!

How can coffee be ordered?

Our coffee can be ordered online in our web shop. We also offer a telephone order service. Smaller quantities are delivered by post within 2-3 working days. Larger quantities for our hospitality customers are delivered by our in-house delivery service. Delivery routes are planned annually and can be viewed here.

How long does a coffee machine usually last?

That depends greatly on the intensity of use and maintenance; normally 5 to 10 years.

How does the on-site service work?

A total of six field service employees ensure the quality of the coffee for our customers on site. During the initial installation, they will show you how everything works and what you need to pay attention to so that the coffee always turns out perfectly. Later, they will visit you regularly to check that the machine is set up correctly. They are also available by telephone if you have any questions. The machine is serviced at predefined intervals by the manufacturer via a service subscription.

Which Blasercafé coffees are suitable for the hospitality industry?

All our coffees are tailored to the needs of the hospitality industry. We will find the right blend for you in a joint tasting session. Factors such as the coffee machine and the water on site also play a decisive role in this process.

From initial contact to enjoying your coffee – how does it work?

As a rule, an initial personal consultation helps to find out which solution might be right for you. Many new customers visit us at our production site in the city of Bern, where our coffees are roasted. Here you can test the coffee machines and, of course, taste our coffees. We will then put together a quote tailored to your needs. Our sales consultant will of course be present during delivery and installation of the coffee machine. At the same time, you have the opportunity to train your staff at our SCA-certified training campus. When you sign the contract, you will be invited to a half-day barista course for you and your staff. You then decide how you would like to order our coffee. If you prefer to order online, we will set up a web shop account for you. Your terms and conditions will then be stored in the shop. Otherwise, we will call you weekly to check whether we can deliver coffee to you on our next scheduled delivery route.

What is Blasercafé doing for sustainability?

Our efforts focus on various stages along the coffee value chain. While we have only limited influence on sustainability issues in the countries of origin, we have been able to quickly implement various measures at our production site in Bern. In 2024, for example, a heat recovery system was commissioned that uses the waste heat generated during roasting to produce energy for hot water. New packaging materials for our bean coffees have enabled us to reduce packaging material and completely eliminate the use of aluminium. But we do not want to remain inactive in the countries of origin either. Our sustainability team is constantly working on improvements. In the past, we have repeatedly supported selected projects that we became aware of through our collaborations and partnerships. In the future, we will be looking for further opportunities to become even more involved in the countries of origin. Details of measures already implemented and planned, as well as our philosophy on sustainability, can be found in our annual Sustainability Report.
